Three english important inventions

THREE ENGLISH IMPORTANT INVENTIONS

PHOTOGRAPHY
It’s hard to say who was the inventor of photography but we know that the first fixed image was made by Joseph Niépce in 1826 but it took eight hours to expose. Later, in 1835, Fox Talbot made it develop by using silver iodide on paper and found a way to produce a translucent negative that could be used to make any number of positives by contact printing – a system used until the arrival of digital cameras.

SYNTHETIC DYE
William Perkin was studying Chemistry when he discovered how to make synthetic dye like purple. In 1856 he was using alcohol to clean up some chemical residue when he suddenly saw an intense purple colour appear. At that time, purple dye was one of the priciest. William worked to produce his new colour and patented it and set up a company to produce it.

WIND-UP RADIO
In 1991, Trevor Baylis saw a television programme that talked about the necessity of communicate information about AIDS to people in Africa and to stop its spread. So Baylis designed one radio that needed no batteries, running off an internal generator powered by a mainspring rolled up by a hand crank. He was able to show it to Nelson Mandela and since then, it’s been distributed all over Africa.

                                      FASHION ITEMS

My favourite fashion item are the jeans. They are comfortable, they fit with everthing and there are in many colours.

I also love a bracelet that I wear always. I love it because it is a present from my sister (who lives far). The bracelet has mini-balls of all colours.

But my priced possesion is a silver ring. I love it because it it apresent from my best friend. I told her that it is a beautiful ring and she took it off and gave it to me. The ring is thin and has incrusted the shapeof two flowers.

But nothing like my pyjamas!
